SLOANE LEATHER BOOTS
Congratulations on selecting Welligogs Sloane Country boots. In order for you to get maximum satisfaction you need to treat them as you would any other leather footwear , in particular as these boots will be worn in wet muddy areas more than normal boots it is recommended you follow these tips :

  • We recommend you immediately apply a neutral leather “wax or balm” cream to the shiny lower brown leather , this will stop the leather drying out and also reduce and remove light scuffing when it occurs . Use this when ever you notice the leather drying out.
  • As these boots are already have waterproof membrane you need not use a waterproofing product on the leather.
  • After applying numerous coats of leather balm or wax a cream leather “cleaner” should be applied to remove build up that some waxes will leave after frequent application. Repeat point 1 .
  • It is best to use a silicone based product if possible – It is also best to use cream rather than spray . Cream will allow a thicker coat and will penetrate deeper as it is rubbed in when applied , spray tends to stay on surface and not penetrate.
  • You do need to protect the Tumbledown (matt finish ) leg leather as well but not as often - keep in mind if you apply the same protection to the Tumbledown that you use on the lower shiny leather you will darken the colour of the leather , you can purchase a special nu-buck cleaner that dries without darkening .
  • Do not dry your boots in front of heaters or fires but allow to dry naturally standing upright .
  • Use a boot tree to avoid folding or collapse of the boot. You can make your own by cutting and rolling up sections of cardboard box about 40cm long to form a leg to insert into the boots , do this wide enough to fill the ankle section of the boot so it retains it’s shape.
  • Caution : The leather drawstring at top is primarily for appearance only – if the cord is pulled against the leather collar the opposite direction to which it feeds out of the collar it will tear , it is really not necessary to tighten this so it is not recommended.
Your boots are a practical waterproof - fashionable recreational product , the main use is as a walking country boot , you can use them for limited recreational riding but they are not meant as a alternative to heavy duty stable, extreme farm or other waterproof footwear, if used for these purposes the warranty is void.

We hope you enjoy your Welligogs.

    PATTERNED WELLINGTON BOOTS
  • Wellies with designs are fashion items and need more care than the traditional green and blue boots you have been used to. The designs will scratch and wear off if continually abused (knocked against hard objects)
  • Wipe off dirt and mud with wet cloth and leave to dry naturally . Do not dry in front of fires or heaters , do not leave on top of central heating radiators.
  • Do not leave boots in direct sunlight or UV light for lengths of time , this may cause the surface to craze , discolour and fade .
  • The designs on these wellington boots are only on the surface so kicking and knocking against hard objects will remove the design.
  • Walk with the weight squarely on the heel , Wellington boots are a built up (made) piece by piece product and rely on vulcanising at high temperatures to heat seal the joints , walking with weight to either the inside or outside of the heel will put the joints under abnormal pressure and will ultimately cause failure.
